Ian Thomas is a barrister in England and Wales (1993) practising from Gough Square Chambers in London and he is a solicitor in the Republic of Ireland (2006).
He is a specialist food lawyer and his work includes safety, hygiene, food information, supplements, claims, animal welfare and crisis management. He is ranked in Chambers and Partners UK Bar Guide which states, ‘He is highly adept at providing regulatory compliance advice as well as representing clients in court.’
Ian is a Visiting Professor at Ulster University (School of Biomedical Sciences), an elected Fellow of the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology, a committee member of the Food Law Group, a member of the European Food Law Association and is country correspondent (Ireland) for the European Food and Feed Law Review.
He is the author of ‘A Practical Guide to Food Law in the United Kingdom’ the third edition of which was published at the end of 2024.
